There are things that motivate you in life, and things that exhaust you. At times, you lack the drive or gumption to press on. What do you do when you’re faced with a lack of motivation? In this video, I share some self motivation skills you can use to maintain your forward momentum.

First, it’s important to recognize where you can make a difference. There are things over which you have complete control. There are other things you might influence but may choose not to. And of course, some situations you are powerless to change.

Once you’ve identified the areas of your life you can control, decide where to exercise your power. What are the things that motivate you in life, that spark your determination? Think about what you would like to have happen.

One of the most worthwhile self motivation skills is organization. Pay attention to the details that, if ignored, might hinder your progress. Always be punctual. Make to-do lists. Meet deadlines and deliver on your promises. You’ll suffer less stress if you manage your time and energy well.

Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day. If you keep your sights on your end goal, you can chip away at your work little by little, step by step. Hold yourself accountable and give yourself credit for achieving what you set out to do. Accomplishments will motivate you to do even more.

Finally, focus on what you enjoy. Pursue things that make you happy – everyday, attainable things that motivate you in life. And surround yourself with positive people who can help you on your way.
